When you apply for a job, your resume is naturally very important. Your resume gives a recruiter an immediate impression of who you are, what you do, and what your qualities are.

When you apply for a job, you almost always have to send your curriculum vitae. Why is your CV important? It mainly contains your work experience and the education you have completed. The company you're applying to can easily see what you have done and achieved so far, which also indicates whether or not you are suitable for the position you're applying for.

Why is your CV important?

When you apply for a job vacancy, there are likely dozens, perhaps hundreds of other applicants who would like to fill that position. Companies often don't have the time to go through all these applications, let alone to interview everyone. Therefore, a selection is made of the applicants the company is interested in.

When selecting, companies first look at the resumes. If they find that the resume does not match the position, the cover letter is often not even read. So, your CV is at least as important as your cover letter.

With your CV, you leave your first impression, see your CV as the business card you leave behind. The initial selection is often based on a CV. More candidates are invited based on a good CV than on a good cover letter.

Since the CV is looked at first, it is therefore very important that it looks good. There are often many other applicants. It is therefore very important that you stand out with your CV, so that you are invited for an interview. So, pay a lot of attention to your CV, if you don't do this and other CVs are better than yours, you often fail at this selection and have no chance of the position anymore.

Ensure that your CV matches the requirements for the position, give the requested skills more attention so that they stand out. Therefore, customize your CV for each new application, you are more likely to be chosen when your CV fully matches the position. A company likes to see a clear CV that immediately shows why you would be the best fit for the position.

The layout of your CV also says something about your personality, so make sure it looks neat and organized. Make your CV original, but make sure that what you do with your CV also fits you and the position. The company should get a good impression of who you are and what your qualities are.

For an original CV, you can also choose to make a video CV! Not all companies are used to this, so if you plan to do this, still send your paper or digital CV.
